Course Description

Objectives of the Programme

Managing people within an organization is a comprehensive process that involves several arduous tasks. Considering their essential nature, the Diploma in Human Resources Management is designed to provide students with the core concepts of the discipline to help them understand and meet the demanding tasks of HR departments of modern organizations. The technical skills in the programme are intended to help students pair theory with practice for improving their performance in the day to day management of human resources in their workplaces.

Contents of the Programme

The programme consists of 8 modules spread over 2 semesters as given below:

Semester 1

  • Human Resources Management: Theory and Practice
  • Recruitment and Selection of Employees
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration
  • Principles of Organizational Behavior

Semester 2

  • Performance Management
  • Training and Development
  • Managing Workplace Systems and Technology
  • Introduction to Strategic Management

Entry Requirements

General entry requirements:

  • Successful completion of Higher Secondary Education OR attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR attainment of a Level 4 Foundation study programme approved for the specific Diploma programme

Alternative entry requirements:

  • Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Programme OR 20 years old, completion of Secondary School, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Programme

Other Details of the Programme

  • Credits: 120
  • Duration: 1 Year
  • Assessments: One individual assignment, one group assignment and an end of term exam every semester
